The pilot bearing, also known as a spigot bush, supports the input shaft of the gearbox where it is inserted into the Crank shaft. It is good practice to replace the pilot bearing whenever the clutch is changed.
The OEM brass bearing is, in my opinion, the best choice for your car as it offers factory fee and service life. Aftermarket needle roller type bushings have been proven to be problematic and often fail prematurely.
